I picked up a TAPCO muzzle brake from my local dealer today, and the thing just slips right over the threads on the barrel. I thought that these have the standard AK pitch thread of 14X1 LH, and assumed these are the same.

The wasr is not inherently junk, and the 10/63' s seem to be a little bit better. The problems are with the builds. Century has garnered a reputation for poor quality control. Canted sights, and loose magazine wells are the main problems with the century wasr. I use a steel surplus mag as a templet as I file the tight areas. Poly mags do fit tight, do not use as a templet! Sounds like your gas piston is U.S.Made from what you said about the marks and heat marks, when they come with wood stocks they have a U.S. stanless steel piston, when they come with the U.S. made black plastic they leave the Romanian gas piston in place.
