The Lost Mine Trail is a moderately challenging two mile loop. Hiked counter-clockwise, the trail climbs from Reservoir Road up the hillside through several switchbacks to a viewpoint overlooking Mt. Ascutney. On this stretch of trail, which follows alongside a brook, a trail diverges to the left and connects to the Butternut Hill Trail.
